Privacy policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Kitaabi Keeda (kitaabikeeda.com) is a website for reading free stories in Hindi and English. This policy explains what we keep about you, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we keep

  • Your account: name, email, username, date of birth (to check that you are 18 or older), site language, and your password, which is only ever stored encrypted (hashed).
  • Your reading: your Library, how far you've read in each story, bookmarks, highlights and notes, your ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž, and reading time, pages turned and the kind of device (phone, tablet, computer). Your notes are private to you.
  • Visits to the site: which pages you view, where you came from (for example Google, Facebook or a link someone shared), your approximate city and country, and your device, browser and system. The city is estimated from your IP address; the IP address itself is never stored. To keep robots out of these numbers, a visit only counts once your browser confirms it (a small script on the page), and visits from data-centre networks are left out; the network is looked up from the IP address too, and isn't stored either.
  • Invites and shares: if you joined through someone's link or invite, who invited you.

What we use it for

  • To run your account and let you carry on reading where you stopped.
  • To send account emails: confirming your email address, resetting your password, and invites. We don't send advertising or marketing emails.
  • To understand which stories readers enjoy and how people find us, so the stories get better. Weak stories are taken down based on readers' signals.
  • To keep out spam and bot accounts.

We never sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising. There are no ads and no third-party trackers on the site.

Cookies

We only use our own, necessary cookies: to keep you signed in (a session and a security cookie), to remember the language you chose, and a random id (kk_v) so we can count visitors. None of them contains your name or email. We don't use Google Analytics or advertising cookies.

Services that help us

  • BigRock (India): hosting for the website and its database.
  • Resend: sending account emails. Only your email address and the message are shared with them.
  • DB-IP: databases for estimating a city and network from an IP address, kept on our own server. Nothing about you is sent to them.
  • We share our stories on our Facebook Page; none of your information goes there.

Our YouTube channel

We publish video versions of our stories on our own YouTube channel. To upload our own videos we use YouTube API Services. This website does not use YouTube API Services to access, collect or store any information about you, and it does not show YouTube content. Our upload tool keeps only the IDs of our own videos and nothing about viewers; when we remove a video, we delete its ID too.

When you watch our videos on YouTube, the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy apply. You can revoke any app's access to your Google account at any time in Google's security settings.

How long we keep it

Your account and reading stay for as long as you keep your account. When you delete your account, your name, email, Library, bookmarks, highlights, notes and settings are deleted for good. Only reading time and ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž stay in the stories' statistics, without anything that identifies you.

Your rights

  • See and correct: you can see and change your details in your profile settings at any time.
  • Delete: you can delete your account yourself in your settings, or ask us to.
  • Questions or complaints: write to us about anything to do with your information at hello@kitaabikeeda.com. We reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Age

Kitaabi Keeda is for readers aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly keep accounts of children; if we find one, we delete it.

Security and changes

The site runs only over HTTPS, passwords are stored encrypted, and only the people who run the site can reach the data. If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and the date above.
